Anubis scorched by Ra!!!


A dip in the pool on a scorching day. I'm on the rebound now, after a long hiatus. Sometimes, it's profitable to take a break especially if you're not very young, so your muscles can regenerate properly. Then I find great body similarities between me and the ancient Egyptian jackal headed god; Anubis. Ra, the sun god, ever envious, decides to prove a point.

Sure fire ways to get rid of pot belly in no time

Abdominal obesity, aka 'Pot belly', or 'beer belly' is a common
feature usually among men and women whose calorie intake is not
commensurate with their energy dissipation. This is usually an
embarrassing problem for many who sometimes go great lengths,
including having liposuction, to get rid of it.

Wrong eating and drinking habits are the major culprits responsible
for this situation, however factors such as age, stress, even genetics
could play key roles in bringing about this condition.

But studies have shown that this situation can effectively be
controlled and reversed with the right amount of exercise and diet.

For food; imbibe the habit of drinking only water when thirsty, reduce
your carbs intake especially if you have less physically demanding
activities for the day. Stock up on vegetables and fruits like
cucumbers watermelon, etc. Opt for fibre rich foods, avoid fatty and
fried foods. Eat at set and regular times of the day, never skip
breakfast.

For exercise, take long walks twice every week. Perform 2 to 3 sets of
10 reps of push ups or press ups every morning, and increase reps as
you develop strength and stamina. Exhale deeply when you exert energy,
in this case in the upward movement.

As your strength increases, you can incorporate weight training,
focusing on pullovers. Other tips include; avoid a sedentary
lifestyle, never sit for too long in one spot, you can walk around the
house when home more. The idea is to increase metabolic activity in
your body, thereby burning off food stored food.

Weight loss? Drink water!



So, you work out; run, walk, jog, lift weights, whatever it is you do to lose weight and you're not seeing results? Perhaps you pop diet pills, drink a thousand cups of slimming tea from Korea or Ethiopia, and a million other weight loss remedies from acupuncture to bungee jumping (huh?) and ... nothing? Hmmm ... Try water. Yeah, crazy as it sounds, researchers claim water has amazing weight loss abilities. How? Well, they don't even know exactly how, but apparently, among other things, water helps to give you that feeling of being full, thereby reducing the urge to eat. Also, it helps to speedily digest food and deliver nutrients, so, the results of your 'labour of love' should be pleasantly visible in short time. Drink some water before workouts to hydrate and keep body 'amenable' to fat burning exercises. Adults are advised to consume between 2 to 3 liters of water per day.

Do you find female bodybuilders attractive?


I find it quite ironic that as an advocate of bodybuilding, I'm not quite taken to the reality of female bodybuilding. I mean, keeping fit, being trim and in shape is understandable, but packing huge muscle mass is ... well, not 'feminine'. Call me chauvinistic, but, I think 'muscle-bound' should be an exclusively masculine adjective. However, some babes do pull it off and appear HOT and attractive with muscles, while some ... I leave you to be the judge.

Is there such a thing as enough?


I remember on various ocassions, when I'm working out in the gym, and piling on enough work to make my veins and muscles pop, the ocassional awestruck novice bodybuilder would make a remark like, 'yo bro, if I got a body like yours, I'd stop working out'. I usually just chuckle, while acknowledging the compliments.

But, it just struck me now that no one can really feel satisfied with their muscular achievement, not just in bodybuilding, but in all spheres of human endeavour.

The quest for perfection keeps us going, elusive, yet seemingly attainable. So, we keep pushing. In our relationships, jobs, vocations, studies, in everything we do, we keep pushing. And yes, we may never achieve perfection, we however better ourselves in the process, and learn valuable lessons along the way.

Corrugated sheets of muscle! I mean, if those words were ever to conjur up an instant image, it should be this. This is the result of intense dedication and hardwork that pays immensely. Your abdominals are your body pillars, for core strenght and stability. Best shape equals best performance. Below are few simple steps that could well set you on your way ... the trick, however, is to exhale deeply as you raise legs, thereby 'squeezing' muscles maximally. Do no more than four reps of 10 sets per leg. Have a 1 minute max interval in between sets.

Save Money, Lose Pounds not Sleep!!!

'You know, I'd really like it if I could flatten my tummy, and my arms are getting a bit flabby on the sides. I wasn't always like this you know, I used to work out often back then, untill I got married. Now, with work, family, bills and more, I hardly have time to hit the gym anymore.' It's amazing how people can squeeze out time in making up excuses. I think the problem is they perceive that 'exercising' is a special activity meant to be carried out in a special place; the gym. Nothing could be further from the truth. Over the course of the week, I shall illustrate simple routines practically ANYONE can carry out ANYWHERE using no 'specialised' workout equipment. Sometimes, you won't even need to get up from your bed to try some fat blasting workouts. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Stay with me ...

LADY MAGNET ENHANCED!!!



I have always been fascinated with bodybuilding, for as long as I can remember. Even though the sport isn't really big here in Nigeria, I just naturally gravitated towards it. I love the aesthetics, the symmetry as well as the truly remarkable sculpting of a well defined body. When my mates were yapping about football stars as they came, I carefully followed events in bodybuilding, and over time, became more than familiar with names like Lou Ferrigno, Boyer Coe, Andreas Cahling, Tom 'Quadzilla' Platz, Mike Mentzer, the irrepressible Arnold Schwarzenegger, and more recently, Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, Branch Warren, Kai Greene and a bunch of others. I love the sport with a passion. I love its benefits, which are physical as well as psychological ... ok, long and short, I love the attention!

QUADI-BUILDING!!!


Building impressive quads is hard work! No doubt, there are a lot of uninformed bodybuilders who will forego this part of bodybuilding for other less 'stressful' workouts, but the benefits far outweigh any momentary pain. And while not everyone will end up with the massive thigh development of a Tom Platz for example, anyone with the right amount of dedication and determination will ultimately build eye catching quads. And what's more, feel truly good with the results! Let's make this week a 'quadi-building' one! Oh, and the guy in the picture is Bada Lekan. Totally passionate bodybuilder, totally passionate Nigerian!
After a very long break, I'm back to sculpting! Feels really good. You think it looks good too? More work needed on my lats though...
